Princess Charleigh’s Royal Garden: A Bridgerton-Inspired First Birthday at The Madison Hotel

Rose flower wall with arched walls and a custom sign for Princess Charleigh’s Bridgerton first birthday in The Conservatory at The Madison Hotel, NJ, by Blooms by Lily

A first birthday is really a celebration of a whole year. The first smiles, the first steps, the long nights, and the family that grew a little closer around one little girl. Charleigh’s first birthday had a Bridgerton theme, and we were so honored her family let us bring it to life.

We set everything up in the glass conservatory at The Madison Hotel in Madison, New Jersey, and the sign at the center said it all: Princess Charleigh’s Royal Garden.

A flower wall fit for a princess

The heart of the room was a lush rose flower wall framed by two cream arched wood walls, with Charleigh’s name lettered on one of the arches. It was made for family photos: parents, grandparents, cousins and, of course, the birthday girl herself.

Balloons in a garden palette

Organic balloon garlands in lavender, blush, cream and sage, with little touches of gold, wrapped around the arches and spilled onto the floor. We tucked fresh blooms and greenery into them so they felt like part of the garden instead of an extra. Take a look at more of our balloon garlands and installations.

Fresh flowers on every table

On the tables, lavender roses, white blooms and soft pink flowers carried the palette through the room. We kept the arrangements low so everyone could talk and laugh across the table, and the natural light pouring through the conservatory glass did the rest.

If you are planning a first birthday

A few things I always share with parents: pick a small palette and repeat it everywhere, from balloons to flowers to signage. Put your energy into one beautiful backdrop instead of a lot of little decorations. And plan a spot for photos, because these are the pictures your family will treasure for years.

Happy birthday, sweet Charleigh. Thank you to your wonderful family for inviting us into your very first celebration.
